Empowering Youth Through Sports

We are a nonprofit organization, fiscally sponsored by Meirs (Maine Immigrants and Refugee Services), committed to creating inclusive sports opportunities for youth and young adults, with a special focus on empowering immigrant and BIPOC communities. Through our tournaments, leagues, and community programs, we aim to break down barriers, celebrate diversity, and foster talent. 2023

Inaugural Outdoor

Our very first event exceeded expectations by bringing together 12 teams from across Maine — showcasing inclusiveness and unity. The winning teams received trophies and commemorative t-shirts, with awards for MVP, Top Scorer, and Best Goalie.

First Indoor

In collaboration with SLRO and UnitedYES, we utilized two fields for simultaneous games. To honor lives lost in the Lewiston tragedy, the winning teams wore commemorative ‘Lewiston Strong’ t-shirts.

Outdoor Championship

Thanks to partnerships with SLRO, UnitedYES, and the Lewiston Recreation Department, we hosted this vibrant event with six individual awards across both divisions. The community turnout was outstanding.

From Refugee Camps To Community Leaders

Three founders united by shared journeys — from refugee camps in Kenya to building a movement in Maine.
Their personal stories of resilience fuel everything Goals Galore stands for.

Mohamed Hasan Co-founder

Born in Kenya and raised in a refugee camp for five years before settling in Lewiston, Maine. Mohamed discovered soccer in kindergarten and it became a universal language that created friendships and fostered unity across his community.

Abdiweli Abdow Co-founder

Grew up in Dagahaley refugee camp before arriving in America at age eleven. Soccer became his refuge — a universal language that helped him make friends, find joy, and build resilience in a new country.

Hussein Hassan Co-founder

Born in Dagahaley refugee camp in Kenya, Hussein’s journey to Lewiston was pivotal. He found solace and purpose in soccer, which became a tool for building lasting relationships within his community.
